The Great Indian Kapil Show was launched last month and marked the long-awaited reunion of host Kapil Sharma and his colleague Sunil Grover. Despite featuring a star-studded guest list with celebrities like Ranbir Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, Diljit Dosanjh, and Rohit Sharma, rumors about the show's cancellation emerged online as viewership figures continue declining. In response to these reports, Archana Puran Singh and other cast members shared a video poking fun at the speculation.

“Comedy ka yeh blockbuster khatam nahi hua,” the text in the video read. The video then showed the pictures of the guests who will grace the show. The slate includes Rajkummar Rao-Janhvi Kapoor, Farah Khan-Anil Kapoor, Badshah, Mary Kom, Saina Nehwal and Sania Mirza, among others. Sharing the video, Archana wrote in the caption, “Yeh laughter kabhi nahi hoga kam, kyunki there are more episodes to come.”

Fans took to the comment section and expressed their view. One of them wrote, "Bring back the same format of the original show. netflix has made it tooo classy... It needs to be massy again." Another said, "Something is really missing in the show. It’s too much fabricated and artificial."

While the show's team celebrates, Netflix's data shows a drop in viewership. The premiere with Ranbir, Neetu Kapoor, and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni got 2.5 million views. The second week saw a slight increase to 2.6 million. However, the third episode dropped to 1.7 million views, putting the show at the eighth position. The fourth episode with Vicky and Sunny Kaushal got only 1.2 million views, pushing the show further down on the Top 10 chart. The variety comedy series’ accumulated views dropped to just 1 million in week six, which featured the Deol brothers -- Sunny and Bobby. That said, The Great Indian Kapil Show has been the top series in India every week since it started.

Kiku Sharda, who is a part of the show, had told News18,  “We have done 13 episodes and the second season will come out soon. We have just wrapped up the first season. It was always meant to be like this. We have already planned the next season and it will come out soon. There won’t be a very huge gap."
