Not Travis Head Or Pat Cummins! Irfan Pathan Names 24-Year-Old 2023 WC Star SRH Need To Sign In IPL Auction

December 08,2023

The 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) mini-auction promises to be an exciting event, as while it might not be a major auction, most teams have a lot of budget in their hands, and several top players are set to go under the hammer on December 19 as the think tanks of all 10 franchises will gather in Dubai.

Among the most high-profile names in the auction will be several Australian 2023 World Cup stars, including skipper Pat Cummins, star pacer Mitchell Starc, and the hero of the semi-final and final, Travis Head, alongside Josh Hazelwood, who was released by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

However, Irfan Pathan has urged 2016 champions Sunrisers Hyderabad to go after 2023 World Cup's breakthrough star Rachin Ravindra. The 24-year-old New Zealand all-rounder was the 4th highest run-getter of the competition with 578 runs in 10 games at an average of 64.22 with three centuries.

"Ideally, they would like to have a proper spinner who is a wicket-taker. They had Adil Rashid, they don't have his services now. Obviously, they have Mayank Markande but they need a bit more than that.

"If they have two all-rounders going really well as far as batting is concerned in Washington Sundar and Marco Jansen, they can actually play with the playing XI. A backup opener is very, very crucial for them and that is why they need to go after Rachin Ravindra big time," said Pathan on Star Sports.

Rachin will be aiming to get a first-ever IPL contract and make his debut in the world's richest cricket league. Being a left-handed batter who can also bowl, he is set to be someone who sees high interest.

Talking about SRH, they are coming into the 2024 season after a disasterous campaign in 2023, in which they finished in last place on the table with just eight points in 14 games.
