April 20,2024

PBKS batter Ashutosh Sharma played a heroic innings of 61 off just 28 balls in the Indian Premier League against MI, on Thursday, 18 April. Batting at the Mullanpur Stadium, Ashutosh gave PBKS hope, despite the team losing their entire top order for just 14 runs.

Ashutosh was forced to walk out early in the game and displayed some superb shots through his innings. The right-hander hit a rapid 23-ball fifty, his first in the IPL. The highlight of the innings was his brilliant sweep against Jasprit Bumrah which he deposited for a six through the leg side.

Ashutosh added a rapid 34 off 17 balls with Shashank Singh and provided PBKS with much-needed impetus. After Shashank's dismissal in the 13th over of the game, it was all Ashutosh Sharma as he managed to dominate the MI bowling order in the latter part of the innings. At one point in time it looked like Ashutosh will finish the game, but Gerald Coetzee trapped him with a short ball at mid-wicket.

On the day, Ashutosh lit up the Mullanpur Stadium with 7 sixes and 2 boundaries in his 28-ball innings. Despite Ashutosh's best efforts, PBKS fell short by 9 runs as they were bowled out for 183 in 19.1 overs in the second innings.
