Olympics: Neeraj Chopra in awe of Vinesh Phogat's 'unreal' win over Yui Susaki

Indian javelin ace Neeraj Chopra was left in awe of fellow compatriot wrestler Vinesh Phogat's handing Tokyo Olympics gold medallist and 4 time World Champion Yui Susaki of Japan, her first international loss at the Paris Olympics on August 6. 29-year-old Phogatbeat top seed Yui 3-2 in the Round of 16 to progress to the quarter-final of the women's 50kg category. Phogat even went on to win the quarters clash against Ukraine's Oksana Livach, to seal her place in the semi-final on the same day.

On the other hand, Neeraj Chopra qualifiedfor the men's javelin final at the Paris Olympics after his first attempt, which was also his season-best effort, of 89.34m. Neeraj had to spend just about 10 minutes on the field at the Stade de France on Tuesday, but the Tokyo Olympics Gold medallist did not shy away from heaping praise on Vinesh Phogat's sensational win to reporters later on.

"This is extraordinary. To beat Susaki is unreal. The effort that she (Vinesh Phogat) has shown after what she has gone through is incredible. All the best to her!" Neeraj Chopra told reporters after his throw.

Neeraj Chopra competed in Qualification Group B in the afternoon session in Paris after Julian Weber of Germany topped Qualification Group A with a best effort of 87.76m.
