Nagpur: Orange City Hospital & Research Institute has a dedicated academic division which ensures that all personnel are kept abreast of the advancements in their respective fields. OCHRI caters to maximum number of varied critical care patients referred from all over central India to Nagpur and has a 40 bedded Critical Care Complex.

A training program on How to use, handle and important features of Savina Ventilator was organized recently at OCHRI especially for all CCU nurses. Mr. Suhail Inamdar, Respiratory Therapist, Drager Healthcare was the main speaker who explained the working, settings, various modes of Savina Ventilator. He gave demonstration of the machine which was actively participated by the nurses. He said that Savina is an advanced ICU ventilator for Adult & Pediatric patient. It has NIV (Non Invasive Ventilation) in all modes of ventilation. He also explained about Volume mode, pressure control modes with auto flow options and Spontaneous breathing available in all modes to reduce invasiveness of mechanical ventilation.

Mr. Ankur Jha said that Savina ventilators has BIPAP/PCV+ -Open breathing mode for tailored gas delivery and smooth transition for weaning phase.

Dr. Anup Marar- OCHRI Director expressed the need to acquire these lifesaving skills and said such regular trainings to personnel who are in critical care sections enhance the understanding of the advances in clinical applications of mechanical ventilation.

The use of ventilators has markedly increased over the past two decades, and invasive and noninvasive ventilation has now become an integral tool in the management of both acute and chronic respiratory failure in critical care units.

Lecture was followed by a question answer session.  Sr. Preeti Joseph, Sr. Sindhu Rao and all other CCU nursing professionals attached to OCHRI attended this training program. Shri.Roy Thomas and Sr. Jessy Abraham arranged this educational initiative for the benefit of nursing staff.
