JANAKROSH Lecture held at DAIMSR
August 08,2023
A major public health issue on a global scale is road
accidents. It needs to be emphasised that it is preventable. The city is seeing
its worst traffic due to the flurry of construction projects. In Nagpur, this
led to almost 1000 traffic incidents in 2022. Probably the most at risk group
is the nation's youth.
On August 3, 2023, DAIMSR organized a guest lecture by the
NGO "Janakrosh, for better tomorrow" for the students of BCCA Sem I
during their induction program – Aarambh 2023-24.
JANAKROSH FOR BETTER TOMORROW” is an NGO based in Nagpur registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. Since 2012, it is engaged in spreading the road safety awareness message amongst the motoring public, pedestrians, vehicle drivers and school/college/ coaching classes students who are on the threshold of attaining majority shortly. The road safety intervention becomes a regular aspect of our life because Life is precious and every life has some purpose.
Total 6 speakers from the NGO enlightened around 200 students by their knowledge and showed videos depicting various life threatening hazards if one is not cautious while driving a vehicle. This lecture captivated the students about their responsibility as a youth of the nation and they promised to be extra careful on the road and more disciplined about the traffic rules laid by the government.
Prof. Rinki Moolchandani and Prof. Kothiram Girsawale co-ordinators of the program worked under the able guidance of Dr. Monika Jain, Head of Department, BCCA for the successful completion of the event.
