Nagpur, December 14: Evonith Steel, a leading steelmaker, successfully hosted a two-day Community Sports Day on December 9 and 10 at its Wardha plant in Nagpur, reinforcing its commitment to community well-being, physical fitness, and social inclusion. The initiative brought together beneficiaries from 20 surrounding villages, creating a vibrant platform for sports, camaraderie, and collective participation.

The event featured a range of traditional and popular sports, including Kho Kho, Kabaddi, and Cricket, encouraging participation from men and women across all age groups. With over 1,000 beneficiaries taking part, participation nearly doubled compared to last year, highlighting the growing enthusiasm for sports and physical activity within the local communities.

Jai Saraf, Chairman, Evonith Steel, said “Sports has always been a powerful medium to unite people, and the Community Sports Day served as a testament to its ability to foster social bonds and promote healthy lifestyles. At Evonith, we believe responsible growth extends beyond our operations into the communities we engage with. The energy and excitement displayed by participants reflected a positive outlook towards physical education and community-led engagement.”

More than a competitive event, the initiative emphasised empowerment, gender inclusion, and confidence-building among rural youth. By creating an inclusive environment that encouraged women and young participants to actively engage, the event strengthened values of teamwork, equality, and self-confidence.

The overwhelming response from the villagers underscored the success of the programme and reaffirmed Evonith Steel’s continued focus on driving meaningful social impact and supporting holistic community development in the regions it operates.
